Wild strawberries are the precious jewels of summertime.
Tucked away under their tangled, verdant awning, one must get close to the earth and poke around to find the buried treasure! So worth the soiled knees. Like the white currants, I tried photographing these in their natural environment but I wasn’t satisfied with the results. After a quick wash I placed them on a dark background and everything made sense. Precious little gems, still on their stems, deep red and juicy and perfumed, amen!
